Learn simple ways to keep the Pagan magick of May alive even after Beltane passes. Nurture love, honor the Goddess and get your creative juices flowing.

Even after the time of Beltane has passed, there are still many ways to bring its rejuvenating magick into your days throughout the month of May. Traditionally, May is a time to celebrate life, for new beginnings and renewed vitality. May is believed to be named after the Roman goddess Maia, an earth goddess who symbolizes youth, love and rebirth. So, with a little creativity and joy of spirit, you can bring these aspects into your days throughout the merry month of May.

The following are some simple ways in which you can bring the Goddess and the joy of May into every day.

Do some spring spiritual cleansing

Cleanse your personal living and work space of any negative energy with a sage smudge stick, or incense such as cedar, sandalwood or myrrh.

Literally sweep away any negative energy with a broom made of natural materials and, if possible, preferably one made with your own hands.

Take a ritual cleansing bath by adding sea salt or a few drops of essential oil such as lavender or rosemary to your bath water. Visualize all the negative energy being washed away from you as you rest in the warm water.

Be creative

Add splashes of color to your home with fresh cut flowers, bowls of fresh fruit and brightly colored candles, preferably red and yellow.

Dance to your favorite music, listen to uplifting music or play a musical instrument. Invite some friends over for an evening of singing, drumming or dancing.

Draw, paint or sculpt something that represents the Goddess.

Write in your journal, write poetry or anything that that will get your creative juices flowing.

Take a fun, creative class such as cooking, crafts, drawing or dance.

Celebrate Nature

Have an outdoor solitary or group ritual to honor Gaia or the elemental spirits.

Spend time outdoors just observing nature. Feel the texture of tree bark, observe how shadows fall on the ground, feel the warmth of sunlight on your face, listen to the sound of birds or wind sifting through the trees.

Plant a flower or vegetable garden, or grow indoor potted herbs or flowering plants.

Celebrate Love

Have a solitary or group ritual honoring a goddess of love such as Aphrodite, Freya, Maia or Asherali.

Focus your ritual work on nurturing love and gratitude; count your blessings.

Call a friend that you haven’t talked to in a long time, do something special for a friend or loved one, write your significant other a note letting them know why they are special to you.

With these ideas and many of your own, you can keep the spirit of love and creativity alive throughout the month of May and throughout the entire year.
