Mandalas date back to ancient times. They are universal, found in all habitable continents. The psychic mandala, pasted to a flat stone, is the least difficult to make.
Mandalas, made of polished carnelian beads, tooth-shaped shells, gold and gems, originated in ancient Mesopotamia, BCE. Later the use of mandalas spread through Pagan Europe. In Europe and the Near East, beads were used in mandalas as talismans to attract positive energy and amulets to protect from evil. Mandala, a Sanskrit word, means circle and represents completeness. These symbols are made into jewelry, wall hangings and other decorations. Mandalas are found in AmerIndian sand art, dream catchers and shields, Muslim mosques, Buddhist stupas, Aboriginal Australian and African artwork and Christian cathedrals. Saint Hildegard von Bingen, a 12th century Catholic nun and abbess, created mandalas to express her beliefs and visions. Carl Jung, the founder of analytical psychology, was instrumental in introducing mandalas to the Western world as a means of emotional healing. Mandalas: Choosing Beads and Other ObjectsColors are symbolic and chosen for specific purposes and to attract what is desired and for protection and absorbing and banishing negativity. One color or combinations are used.
Crystals, feathers, shells, gold, silver and copper objects and animals’ figures can be incorporated into mandalas to enhance the powers of the colors. Tiger’s eye, especially black, is protective. Crystal quartz can substitute for other stones. Creating the Psychic MandalaNeeded items:
String one blue bead, followed by six purple ones, then add blue beads to encircle the purple, followed by purple to encircle, continuing until it needs one more layer to be complete. This is made from the crystal beads. Charge the mandala, holding it with one’s projective hand, right if right handed; left for left handed. Visualize purple, blue and white rays of energy sending the desire to enhance psychic abilities, while feeling the need. Once the mandala is charged, put it in a special place. When the need to enhance psychic talents arises, hold the mandala in the receptive hand. Feel the energy pouring into the body and meditate on the desire. Optional: light a purple, blue and/or white candle.
